Interlibrary Loan
Students and faculty may order books and periodical articles not held in the Bainbridge College Library collection, through the interlibrary loan (ILL) service. The library is a participant in the Georgia Online Database, a computerized system that can deliver books and periodical articles in several days. Rush interlibrary loans for periodical articles can be transmitted by the library's Fax machines, reducing delivery times to less than twenty four hours in most cases.
When can Interlibrary Loan be used?
It is important to first search the Bainbridge College Library for materials related to your subject before requesting an Interlibrary Loan. When you are researching your subject, you may find an article or book you would like to obtain that is not available in this library. Use information about that item to fill out a Request Form online, or at the front desk.
Who can use the Interlibrary Loan Service?
Interlibrary Loan Service is available to students and employees of Bainbridge College. Library users from the general community are encouraged to use their public library for Interlibrary Loan.
How long does it take to get an item?
The time it takes to obtain an item varies depending on location and availability. You should allow at least one week from the time you turn in your request.
How much does it cost?
Most of the time, there is no cost to the patron. However, if the item is only available out of state, or from a special library, there may be a charge. Be sure to indicate on the request form if you are willing to pay and the amount.
What types of materials can be borrowed?
Books and photocopies of articles are most commonly ordered. Reference books, genealogy, rare books, entire issues of a periodicals and audiovisual materials are usually classified as non-circulating and therefore cannot be borrowed.
