Division of Continuing Education

The Division of Continuing Education of Bainbridge College exists to meet the lifelong learning needs of the citizens of the region and to represent the college in responding to community needs. The Division supports the educational, economic, and cultural demands of persons of all ages through its non credit courses, certificate programs, pre license and license renewal courses, and customized business and industry contract training.

Educational opportunities are available in several different formats. Some classes are led by an instructor in a classroom and others are offered on line over the internet. Business and industry training can be customized to meet the needs of businesses and can be conducted on site at the business location or at the Continuing Education Center.

Continuing education opportunities are ungraded and receive no academic credit. An individual does not have to be admitted to the college to participate in one of the classes. Classes are scheduled three terms a year and advertised in a catalog which comes out prior to the beginning of the term. The Division of Continuing Education is constantly striving to meet community needs by adding new classes and certificate programs as they are developed.

Examples of the classes are:

  • Personal Enrichment Classes
  • Art and Music Classes
  • Health and Fitness Classes
  • Prelicense and continuing education courses for real estate, appraisal, and insurance.
  • Classes to prepare individuals for health related careers
  • Professional Development classes to assist individuals in furthering the career they are in, or in developing a new career

Customized Business and Industry Training

Need a specialized training program? Need to make sure all of your employees are trained using the same information to  avoid confusion later? Need to develop employees to create a pool of prospective supervisory personnel? How about scheduling computer training when you can afford for your employees to be away from the job? Bainbridge College can meet these needs.

As your partner in training employees, we at Bainbridge College can customize a program for your needs. We’ll design the program to your specifications and conduct it on your site or ours. Because we have cutting-edge programs in computer technology, business skills, and management development, we can respond very quickly to your request.

Our customized training instructors are qualified individuals with hands-on workplace experience. We’ll discuss their qualifications and abilities with you before putting the program into place. It is important that you know what material will be presented and that you approve it. We value comments and suggestions, and request evaluations of our work at the completion of the program to measure its success.

Let us talk with you about the possibilities for your training. Please call Gean Hendrix at 229-248-2584 or Ann Wells at 229-248-2517.

Tailor the training to your needs following the guidelines you set. For example:

  • It can be as short or as long as you need - a few hours or spread over several weeks. Your objective is what guides the time. Collectively you, the BC Business and Industry Division, the instructor, and the individual in your company responsible for the training will clarify your objective and plan the program to meet that objective.
  • Class size, time, and location can be arranged to fit your needs.
  • The material will be based on what you determine is needed. The curriculum will be developed before the class starts so that you can approve the content in advance of the training.

Spend Smart WebClass

While there are many paths to wealth, all of them have one common component. They require at least some money to get started. Getting ahead financially begins with consistently ending each month with extra money after the bills are paid. The only means of accomplishing this are to either earn more or spend less. Many believe they can earn their way to financial success, but for most people increased earnings means increased spending as well. According to The Millionaire Next Door, "If you make a good income and spend it all, you are not getting wealthier. You are just living high."

Creating Wealth...Even with no Room in your Budget

No matter what your income level, the key to creating wealth is to spend less than you make by learning how to Spend Smart. Sure, the Spend Smart WebClass provides many tips and strategies for saving money on groceries, utilities, insurance, cars and more...but there is much more to Spend Smart than learning 1001 ways to save money. Knowing how to save money is worthless unless you actually capture the money. Spend Smart teaches unique process, known as K+PAR, that turns the knowledge of saving money into cash in your pocket. Spending smart does not mean sacrificing or doing without, rather it is about getting maximum value from each purchasing dollar and gaining a greater understanding of how and why purchasing decisions are made by discovering your hidden "spending personality".

By spending smart, the typical family can effortlessly capture several hundred extra dollars each month by using a simple but powerful "Reverse Budget" technique to plan their savings and then "Seize the Savings" by removing the money from their spend-able income.

By taking the Spend Smart WebClass you will learn how to imitate The Millionaire Next Door, and like millionaires, will realize that how you spend your money is the biggest factor in determining whether or not you create wealth.
