Special Access in Quizzes

Edit the quiz and click the Restrictions tab. Then at the bottom, click Add Users to Special Access.

On the next page, you can set special dates of access as well as different time limits from the rest of the students in the class. These settings are identical to the settings on the Restrictions page. The difference is that only the student you specify will have these properties.

After you have made your adjustments to dates or timing, choose the student(s) from the list that will receive this special access by clicking the box by their name, and then the Add Special Access button.

Once you add special access, you can see on the Restrictions tab those students who have special access. You can remove the special access by clicking the trash can or edit the access by clicking the pencil.

If you select Allow only users with special access to see this quiz, then only those special access students will be able to take the quiz at the specified time. In most cases, you will want the first option, Allow selected users special access to this quiz. This choice allows other students regular access to the quiz while providing the extra options for the special access students.

Special Access in Dropbox

Edit the Dropbox and click the Restrictions tab and then the Add Users to Special Access button at the bottom.

On the next page, set your special dates. In most cases, you are adding extra time to complete the Dropbox, so you will set an End Date that is later than the date for the rest of the class. Choose the students to receive special access, and then click the Save Special Access button.

After saving the special access, you can see who has that special access on the Restrictions page. You can remove the special access by clicking the trash can or edit the access by clicking the pencil.

If you select Only allow users with special access to see this folder, then only those special access students will be able to submit the Dropbox at all. In most cases, you will want the first option, Allow only users with special access to submit assignments outside the normal availability dates for this folder. This choice allows other students regular access to the Dropbox while providing the extra time for the special access students.
