BSC student cooks up a feast for extra credit

Bainbridge State College freshman Kayla Wagner decided coordinating a Thanksgiving feast for almost 100 of Bainbridge and Decatur County’s first responders would get her out of a test – and it did. On Friday, Nov. 22, Wagner’s extra credit project fed 65 members of the Bainbridge Public Safety Department, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and Jail, the Decatur County Fire Department and the Emergency Medical Services a Thanksgiving feast at First Baptist Church’s fellowship hall. Lions Club donates raffle proceeds toward BSC scholarship

Acclaimed science-fiction writer, McDevitt, to visit BSC

Award-winning science-fiction writer Jack McDevitt will visit Bainbridge State College on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 4:30 p.m. McDevitt will read from his latest novel, Starhawk, and sign copies of his books afterward in Room 961 in the Student Wellness Center on main campus. Gratitude Tree marking thankfulness

Expressions of gratitude are adorning a Christmas tree in the Bainbridge State College’s library this year. Students, faculty and staff members have been invited to write what they are grateful for and those tags are then hung on the tree in the newly renovated library’s sitting area. While two Bainbridge State College students expounded on how scholarships have helped them with their higher education, the College’s Foundation announced it exceeded $1 million in assets for the first time. Dewey Robinson, chair of the Foundation’s scholarship committee, said during the Foundation’s recent annual meeting that assets for the Foundation topped more than $1 million, of which more than $835,000 was secured for future scholarships.
