Developing a Course Map

A course map is a step in the backward design process that asks you to map-out the learning objectives, assessments, and learning activities of your course. The chart below presents an example of the map for one module and one learning objective for a course.

Week 3 Students will be able to identify major indicators of autism when presented with cases
  1. Three test questions asking for recall of indicators
  2. Correctly identify autism diagnosis by completing three case study analyses of children.
  1. Read Chapter 9 of text.
  2. Provide at least five case studies as self-assessments to practice identifying the indicators.
  3. Provide case study in discussion area for small groups to analyze together.
  4. Provide autism video from LifeWorks (optional)
