Whether experimenting with hair color or realizing their flair for doing facials or nails, several Bainbridge State College students enrolled in its cosmetology program are discovering where their aptitudes are, and more importantly, where their passions are. AT&T makes generous donation to BSC Foundation

AT&T recently made a generous donation to Bainbridge State College’s Foundation, saying the funds are an important investment for the future of southwest Georgia. AT&T Regional Director of External Affairs Courtney Brinson said the donation will help worthy students complete their education. “I look at it as an investment,” Brinson said. “The best investments allow someone to pick themselves up. Harrell named BSC’s director of Institutional Advancement

A familiar face in Bainbridge’s business community and a tireless volunteer for several worthy causes has been appointed as Bainbridge State College’s interim executive director of the Office of Institutional Advancement. BSC student cooks up a feast for extra credit

Bainbridge State College freshman Kayla Wagner decided coordinating a Thanksgiving feast for almost 100 of Bainbridge and Decatur County’s first responders would get her out of a test – and it did. On Friday, Nov. 22, Wagner’s extra credit project fed 65 members of the Bainbridge Public Safety Department, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and Jail, the Decatur County Fire Department and the Emergency Medical Services a Thanksgiving feast at First Baptist Church’s fellowship hall. Acclaimed science-fiction writer, McDevitt, to visit BSC

Award-winning science-fiction writer Jack McDevitt will visit Bainbridge State College on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 4:30 p.m. McDevitt will read from his latest novel, Starhawk, and sign copies of his books afterward in Room 961 in the Student Wellness Center on main campus. Expressions of gratitude are adorning a Christmas tree in the Bainbridge State College’s library this year. Students, faculty and staff members have been invited to write what they are grateful for and those tags are then hung on the tree in the newly renovated library’s sitting area. Daryl Parks, a Tallahassee, Fla., attorney who was one of the lawyers for Trayvon Martin’s family, was a recent guest of the Bainbridge State College Honors Program. Studying a theme of race and racism for the academic year, the Bainbridge State Honors Program consists of 17 talented students who engaged Parks in a frank and honest discussion about the teenager’s death in Sanford, Fla., in February 2012.
