1. Why do students use an Academic Resource Center?
  • To get encouragement in achieving academic goals
  • To get help with finding material for self-teaching
  • To get assistance in learning challenging concepts
  • To have a place to study with peers and to master the language of the discipline
2. When should students come to the Academic Resource Center?

AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER:

  • To take time to set the goals for the course and to review the syllabus thoroughly!
  • To get extra help with note taking, study skills, and test preparation.
  • To form study groups and reserve a table for study partners.
  • To discover the course materials available in the ARC that can be used for extra help.
3. Does the Academic Resource Center work in coordination with courses offered on the BC campus?
  • YES! Instructors work with the ARC to provide extra information about the course.
  • YES! The ARC has study notes, & syllabi from the courses.
  • YES! ARC Tutors work with instructors to provide assistance in the classes students are taking.
4. Is tutoring free?

A: YES! Tutoring is free for all currently enrolled Bainbridge College students.

5. How often can a client come in for tutoring?

A: A client can come in for tutoring as often as necessary. Many clients choose to arrange for a standing appointment which means that they see a tutor regularly and as often as they need to.

6. Can I come in the ARC just to study?

A: YES! The Center is a quiet place for studying. Many study aids are available such as mathematics videos, internet access, and self-paced instruction in accounting, reading, anatomy, and many other subjects. These study aids can easily supplement textbook-study while a client is in the Academic Resource Center .

7. Is it ever too late to start getting tutored?

A . NO! Tutoring always seems to improve your test grade by at least a few points.
