China is another one of BSC’s study aboard programs

Photo of a sight in ChinaAlong with the study aboard programs in Belize and Scotland, Bainbridge State College has another fascinating destination students may travel to while earning college credit – China.

From May 13-27, 2014, Bainbridge State instructor Roger Lunt will lead the study aboard program through some of the China’s most renowned sights. The tour will include a four-city stop, with the group arriving in Beijing, traveling via an overnight train to Xian, traveling to Guilin/Yangzhou and then departing from Hong Kong.

“My wife and I spent 10 months in Xian, China, where we taught English and management, and we had many students show and tell us about everyday life in China,” said Dr. Lunt, who teaches economics and business administration at Bainbridge State. “While in Xian, we will be able to show our students some of the everyday life experiences of average Chinese citizens that are not seen by the typical China traveler. For example, while in Xian we will be paired with Chinese college students to show us around Xian and take us on a bicycle ride to visit a small active Buddhist monastery.”

The program includes four days in Beijing, Xian and Hong Kong, and two days in Guilin and Yangzhou.

Some of each city’s highlight include Beijing’s Tiananmen Square and The Great Wall; Xian’s Terracotta Warriors and a bicycle ride with Chinese students to visit practicing Moslem monks; a Li River cruise and the Reed Flute Cave in Guilin/Yangzhou; and, Hong Kong’s famous Stanley Market and Symphony of Lights in Victoria Harbor.

Students may earn college credit in such courses as Introduction to Business, The Environment of Business, Macroeconomics and Microeconomics.

Dr. Lunt said the cost of the trip is $3,458, which does not include passport, tuition, visa, books, spending money and some meals. The cost may change slightly because of unanticipated increase in airfares or exchange rates. If there are non-Bainbridge State students interested in taking the trip or for more information, contact Dr. Lunt at roger.lunt@bainbridge.edu or call him at (229) 248-2560.
