Salter wins use of Action GM car for a month

During the Bainbridge State College’s fall festival, the winner of the use of a new car for a month was announced as well as winners of $125 worth of gas, thanks to Action GM. Peggy Salter, Bainbridge State College’s administrative assistant in the College’s Office of Institutional Advancement, earned the use of a 2014 Chevrolet Impala for a month thanks to a partnership with the College and Action GM.

The announcement was made during the College’s Fall Festival held on Monday, Oct. 28. Students, faculty and staff, and family members enjoyed various activities such as games, food such as corndogs, funnel cakes and cotton candy, and witnessing College Police Officer Brian Lewis kiss Elvis Pegsley as part of a Relay for Life fund-raising event.

Action GM Executive Manager Randy Soden donated $125 worth of gas cards, which three students were invited to guess a number and then pick a box with the cards underneath. Jonathan Davis of Donalsonville won the $100 gas card, Sarah Reese of Bainbridge won a $25 card and Shana Lott of Bainbridge won a Bainbridge State T-shirt.

Regular, full-time Bainbridge State employees with perfect work attendance are eligible to earn the use of a vehicle donated by Action GM.

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, students, staff and faculty participated in a “Bras for a Cause” contest, which contestants decorated a bra that conveyed a message about breast cancer awareness.

Bainbridge State student Brittany Folsom of Cairo won first place, receiving a tablet; Chris Williams, a Bainbridge resident  and a peer mentor for the College, won second place and a $50 gas card; and, April McNair, a student and an administrative assistant with the College’s Public Safety Office, won third place and a $25 Walmart gift card. Honorable mentions were Ashley Taylor, the College’s enrollment services coordinator, and Summer Reese, a student from Blakely. Decatur County Breast Cancer Support Group volunteers Linda Long, Marie Hendrie and Glenna Thornton served as judges.
