Bainbridge State College will begin in January offering its renowned Emergency Medical Technician program at the College’s Early County Center in Blakely.

Charles Avery, instructor of Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician programs, said registration begins Monday, Nov. 4.  Classes will be from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at the Early County Center, located at 40 Harold Ragan Drive in Blakely.

“We want to give residents in our outlying areas in opportunity to join this exciting career in pre-hospital medicine,” Avery said.

Bainbridge State College EMT students currently have a 100 percent first-time pass rate on their certifying exam as compared to the national average of 76 percent, said Kathleen Ketterer, dean of the School of Health Sciences and Professional Studies.

“We are very fortunate to be able to offer such a high-quality program for our service area.  Mr. Avery has done an excellent job educating our students in preparation for the national registry exam resulting in a 100 percent pass rate for Bainbridge State College graduates,” Ketterer said.

Avery said studies show there is currently a shortage of Advanced EMTs and the profession expects to experience a 17 percent job growth over the next five years.

    • I got my Advanced EMT certificate at Bainbridge College under the direction of Mr. Charles Avery, and I must say that he is a fine instructor. Mr. Avery made passing the National Registry Exam a breeze!
