Bainbridge State College’s Early County Chorus recently held its 6thAnnual Spring Concert on April 28 in the main lobby of the Blakely campus.
The concert also included members of the Early County High School Chorus and Show Choir. After the concert, its members were treated to snacks, and Student Services Coordinator Lori Haddock talked with the students about attending Bainbridge State.
Among the songs the Bainbridge State chorus performed were “Believe It or Not” and “How Great Is Our God.” Solo performances included “Joyful, Joyful” performed by Rosa Gibson, “Oh Happy Day” performed by Betty Roberts, “He Still Loves Me” performed by Shuquinta Butler and Chorus Director Frederick Shorter. Shorter was also the soloist for “New York, New York” as chorus members Ross Roddy and Ryan Ford danced to the popular song.
Members of the Bainbridge State chorus are Michelle Abner, Rebecca Brackins, Alberta Bush, Shuquinta Butler, Lora Cawthon, Keyera Echols, Ryan Ford, Demetria George, Rosa Gibson, Betty Roberts, Ross Roddy, Renecia Thompson, Patricia Washington and Gloria Wiley.
Shorter is not only the director, but the choreographer and the lead musician. Teresa Teal is a member and adviser of the chorus. The chorus has been in existence since the spring 2008, and it performs each year in both the fall and spring.
