Hip-hop/pop violinist Josh Vietti is scheduled to perform at Bainbridge State College’s Student Wellness Center on Tuesday, Jan. 28, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Labeled one of 2012’s Best Breakout Artists by CBS Los Angeles, the southern California resident has performed at more than 150 colleges around the country and opened for various artists that include Ne-Yo, Fabolous, Earth Wind & Fire and Justin Moore.
Vietti recently performed at the 2013 Stone Soul Music Festival at the Richmond International Speedway in Richmond, Va. He was an opening act for artists B.o.B., French Montana and Fantasia. Vietti has also performed at Dodger Stadium twice in 2013.
Although generally billed as a hip-hop violinist, he also incorporates classical, gospel, country, pop and jazz into his performances and is highly interactive with the audience.
He started playing the violin when he was 4 years old. At the age of 7, Vietti received a violin scholarship with virtuoso Mischa Lefkowitz of the LA Philharmonic and studied with him for more than 10 years. In 2006, he decided to pursue his passion for music and started street performing in Los Angeles. Vietti did this for four years before being featured in the 2010 NBA All-Star Game commercial. A year later, he was featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
After opening for numerous platinum recording artists in pop, hip-hop and R&B, Vietti finally headlined his own show at the legendary Whisky A Go Go last June on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, Calif.
Vietti’s performance is free and open to the public.
