Bainbridge State College will swing into its 40th-year celebration with no other than the Swingin’ Medallions.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, the Bainbridge State College (BSC) Foundation is hosting the Swingin’ Medallions at a 40th Anniversary Gala at the Charles H. Kirbo Regional Center beginning at 7 p.m.

“It’s always a treat having the Swingin’ Medallions,” said Dale Fuller, executive director of Institutional Advancement for Bainbridge State. “Crowds love them. They appeal to a broad age group from boomers to teenagers because they are terrific entertainers. No true classic rock and roll fan will want to miss this.”

The Swingin’ Medallions, which began touring in the 1960s, are famous for their high-energy shows that have appealed to a broad range of age groups, from grandparents to teenagers. Their hit singles, “Double Shot of My Baby’s Love,” “Hey, Hey Baby” and “She Drives Me Out of My Mind” get their audiences out of their seats and onto their feet.

The Bainbridge State College Foundation is hosting the gala not only to kick off the 40th-year celebration, but plans to use the proceeds to establish the Bainbridge State College Founders Scholarship.

“Any opportunity we have to help students better themselves, is a good opportunity,” Fuller said. “The Founders Scholarship not only recognizes those who helped establish this institution, it provides a way to give back to the community by providing an opportunity for citizens who cannot afford to go to college to do so.”

While swinging to the Swingin’ Medallions, guests can enjoy live and silent auctions, heavy hors d’oeuvres and two open bars.

Also on tap, organizers are inviting caterers and restaurants to participate in a “Chef’s Sampler” portion of the program where guests may get a taste of what the community chefs have to offer.

Tickets are on sale now for $50 each. They may be purchased at Kirbo Regional Center located on the campus of Bainbridge State College. The cost of the tickets are partially tax deductible. Tables of eight in preferred locations can be reserved for $500. Call (229) 243-6428 for more information or to purchase tickets.
