BC’s Ross earns Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) distinction

Jeffrey Ross

(Bainbridge, Ga.) – Dr. Rhonda Payne, Bainbridge College (BC) Nursing division chair, announces that Jeffrey Ross, M. S. N., R. N, has earned the designation of Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). The CNE designation is awarded by the National League of Nursing’s Academic Nurse Educator Certification Program. Ross met strict eligibility criteria of education and teaching experience and successfully completed a rigorous certification examination to earn the distinction.

“Mr. Ross is an excellent instructor who connects well with students and actively participates in BC’s Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program and campus wide activities,” said Dr. Payne.

Ross received his Associate Degree in Nursing from Darton College in Albany, Ga. He received both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Nursing from Albany State University in Albany.

The National League of Nursing Certification states “Certification in any field is a mark of professionalism. For academic nurse educators, it establishes nursing education as a specialty area of practice and creates a means for faculty to demonstrate their expertise in this role. It communicates to students, peers, and the academic and health care communities that the highest standards of excellence are being met.”

As of December 31, 2009, there were only 1,993 nurse educators in the U.S. who have earned the CNE credential. Bainbridge College’s ADN program is proud to have both Jeffrey Ross and Rhonda Payne as CNE certified faculty.
